Wow, this quarter has by far been the most intense few weeks in school. I've been wrapping my brain around web design (love it and hate it at the same time), staring at InDesign for 8 hours a day while art directing for advertising, designing and redesign a magazine and novel. I got tired just writing that.
During this time of major face-melting homework I've managed to sneak in some time to put together some new work for a group show at The Flatcolor Gallery which opened last Thursday.
I felt so humbled and privileged to be in a show with such an amazing group of international artists.
It really made me think hard about my path as an "artist" versus the one of the designer. I think both are working nicely in conjunction which could make for an exciting career path once school ends, but sometimes I have my doubts about both. I liked what I contributed but it got me pumped up for the next few shows I have creeping up on me. While I toil away in front of the computer screen I come home and decompress with putting pen to paper or painting a nice pattern to unwind. Sounds kind of cheese ball, but it really helps me with my creativity flow and concentration.
